Auckland – Tāmaki Makaurau

Auckland is one of the great cities of the South Pacific, where stunning natural beauty and big city style meet. Home to 1.5 million people and buzzing with excitement, the city abounds with modern shopping areas, a myriad of excellent cafés and restaurants and superb events all year round. Yet its setting is a natural paradise of sparkling harbours, native forests, dormant volcanoes and beautiful beaches.

SS22 delegates will be thrilled with what Auckland has to offer. The shopping is world-class and the outdoor world and nature adventures are close at hand. Gourmet cuisine, vineyards, live entertainment, top sports events, theatre, outstanding sights and attractions – Auckland is home to them all.

Auckland is also the largest Polynesian city in the world, with a dynamic mix of Pacific cultures and other cultures from all around the globe. Auckland’s allure to visitors is reflected in the name it was given by early Māori: Tāmaki Makaurau – the maiden desired by a hundred lovers.

Auckland has the people and the places to make the SS22 2018 experience one to be remembered by delegates for years to come.
